Trading Up Bikes

Earlier this month, we continued the longstanding tradition of "trading up bikes." Emma was growing too big for her bike, Caroline could hardly ride her bike anymore because her legs were too long, and Lauren was just about ready for a bike of her own. Thus, the big trade. A friend passed along a bike for Emma - which is just the right size AND has gears! Emma's old bike was just right for Caroline, and it gave us a perfect opportunity to teach her to ride without training wheels. Caroline's bike (which is really Emma's old, old, bike) is still a bit big for Lauren, but she is thrilled that she now has a bike of her own too, although she is sticking to the trike a little longer. So everyone's happy ... a new, or sorta new, bike to ride around the neighborhood and beyond. Byron and I ... well, fortunately we have not outgrown our bikes, so the ones we bought 15 years ago are still in service.
